This exhibition is an exploration of collaboration and accommodation — between artists, between mediums, and between ways of seeing. Bringing together micro and macro, color and black and white, and photography and painting, a thousand conversations are born. Commenting on the wonder and confusion of the unknown, Kristen Letts Kovak and Christine Lorenz invite you to zoom in on the world until it explodes into abstraction. Ambiguous Boundaries dances between scientific inquiry and the ethereal. A grain of salt becomes a crystalline galaxy.A brush of paint transports you into another world. Observations unfold into imagination.Data becomes dream. Through this collaborative exchange between photography and painting, the artists utilize both precision and ambiguity. Scale is relative and perception is fluid. It’s true that the salt crystals are minuscule, and some organic paintings resemble sweeping landscapes — but each piece is both intimate and infinite at once. Micro becomes macro. What is internal is both universal. In this space of collaboration — between artists, between disciplines, between viewer and work — the boundaries of understanding stretch and fold into one another, expanding our understanding of not only this vast world, but also of our place within it.
