The National Road: A Talk with Brady Crytzer

The National Road: A Talk with Brady Crytzer

Thursday, June 11, 2026 (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Author and historian, Brady Crytzer will discuss his latest book The National Road: George Washington and America’s First Highway West. The book tells the dramatic tale of how our young republic, fueled by George Washington’s early vision, built the first federal highway west — a project that helped define the nation’s expansion and spirit. Crytzer’s account weaves political debate, engineering feats, and personal stories from colonial America through the 1830s, revealing how this pioneering infrastructure shaped commerce, community, and culture across the frontier.

Brady Crytzer is a historian of the American frontier and the award-winning author of The Whiskey Rebellion, Guyasuta and the Fall of Indian America. His writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the Journal of the American Revolution. He is the host of the acclaimed podcast Dispatches and has appeared regularly on Fox News, Peacock, and C-Span.
